Illegal Chinese Medicine Shops in London

rhino horn London Police are targetting Chinese medicine shops in the UK capital. These shops have been known to use parts of animals that are endangered including rhino horn (in the last three decades, 98% of the world’s black rhinos have been wiped out, largely due to demand for horn) and tiger bone. An estimated one tiger per day being poached to meet the demand.

Police are trying to weed out the shops that are using these illegal products and are urging the good guys to display stickers in their shop windows supporting the campaign.

Run by the Metropolitan Police’s Wildlife Crime Unit, "Operation Charm" and is backed by the Federation of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine. It is a campaign that has run for over 10 years and has done a lot to help cut down the abuse of endangered animals worldwide. It plans to target the places selling any items containing, or even purporting to contain, endangered animals, and raising awareness around the capital of the devastating effects of the underground market.
