Shark Tracking Off Australia

Australia East Coast Scientists are tagging and tracking sharks off the New South Wales coast of Australia in an effort to learn more about the movements and environment of this endangered species.

Grey Nurse and Great White Sharks are being studied. Their movements are being tracked by underwater sensors which also record water depths and temperatures frequented by the sharks.

Around sixty sites are receiving data from Victoria to Queensland. The transmitters last for about 9 months and, apparently, can be readily replaced by divers when necessary.
