DNA Fingerprinting Helps Track Endangered Tigers

tiger Indian scientists are now able to offer conservationists the ability to DNA identify tigers which will help to monitor the size of the tiger populsation in the sub-continent.

At present, identification of this endangered species has been a labour-intensive matter of checking tracks, setting up cameras and trying to make sure that the same tigers are not being counted more than once.

DNA fingerptinting has been used in Africa to monitor elephant populations.
