With a view to stamping out wildlife crimes and to facilitate the protection of endangered species, the Indian government has approved an amendment to hasten the implementation of the Tiger Task Force.

The task force aims to protect tigers and other endangered animal species in light of threats to natural habitats and other risks.

The overall legislation for the programme is via the Wildlife (Protection) Amendment Bill 2005.
